Patent for Treatment of Cancer

Taylor & Edelstein obtains patent for client LifeBridge Innovations for Treatment of Cancer Patients with Multiple Tumors

This  device and method is made to improve the treatment of multiple or diffuse solid tumors in the human torso by using tailored electric fields to boost the body’s immune response. It’s designed for patients with advanced cancer, particularly those with tumors in multiple locations. The approach involves treating several tumor sites at once or in rotation, adjusting the electric fields based on where tumors are located relative to vital organs, and fine-tuning the field’s intensity by tracking variables like angles and frequency. It also maximizes the number of angles used to deliver the fields, adapts to changes in frequency, and uses predictive data, like blood tests, to create plans that help prevent tumors from coming back after remission.

It starts by scanning the patient’s body to find at least two tumor-filled areas and understanding their spatial layout. An array of insulated electrodes, connected to a control device, is placed on the body to deliver tumor-treating electric fields (TTFields). The system sets up specific electrode firing patterns for each tumor area, sometimes prioritizing certain tumors based on a triage strategy. It decides whether to apply these patterns simultaneously or one after another, depending on what’s most effective. Additionally, it monitors electrode temperatures to adjust the setup if needed, ensuring safe and effective treatment. A key benefit is the ability to target multiple, distant tumors at once with different electrode configurations, making it a powerful option for patients with widespread cancer.
